Zippity.Doo.Daa

I got these shots of Luke's (my brother) girl Zip the other day. I don't post photos of Zip very often so for those who don't know already, Zip is a 4 year old Border Collie x Koolie, who we bred back when we lived in Gippsland, Victoria. Her mother is Skeeter and her dad is a lovely Koolie we used to own named Spike.

Three words that sum up Zip:

Facetious. Lazy. Affectionate

She has the most wicked sense of humour, just like her sister (Darcy).
And she worships Luke, she'd do absolutely anything for him, would follow him to the end of the earth & back, and he loves her to bits.

It isn't very often i can get Zip to pose long enough for a photo but I was lucky this day and got quite a few, here are my faves::

Now, I wasn't going to post this but I couldn't help myself..

Oh Josey!

Meet Josey..
Nolans Josey

What Up!??
Nolans Josey

Isn't she just the sweetest thing!?? Just look at those adorable eyes!
Nolans Josey

Nolans Josey

She's the newest addition to our paw family coming all the way from Western Australia by plane, so she is already a well travelled little girl!
She will hopefully be Mum's future Trial dog (once she is trained of course!)

Josey's mother Sasha (WA1455), is full UK bloodlines, she is littermate to Sam's girl Fly. And her father is Rocky Edge (WA1290) who is a mix of UK/NZ and Australian lines.
See pedigree:
Nolans Josey Pedigree

Jose was born on the 25th May, so she is exactly 2 months old today.
She is currently living in the house with Mum's Darcy and Skeeter, Darcy loves her.. plays with her on the couch and helps to to chase poor Lizzy Kitteh around and around the house (though Lizzy asks for it most of the time). Skeeter on the other hand has turned into a major grump and growls whenever little Josey comes near her.
Brynn thinks she is the ants-pantz, a brand new toy for her too play with.. but she is a bit too rough for her. Jose is also a big hit with Zip and Floss too.

She is a very bold, outgoing puppy, has a wicked sense of humour, loves barking at people when they tell her off for something bad.. And she is so inquisitive, always has to know whats going on..

She is a natural born poser (hopefully she'll be a natural on sheep too!).. she has already developed the nickname (thanks to Sara!) of the little "Camera Whore" ^-^

ZOMG!! Bug Eyes!!!

Birthday Girl

One very special TriDog celebrated her 1st Birthday on Tuesday..

094

She was very spoilt and was given a lovely, huge raised dog-bed with a big futon for extra warmth and comfort on these fa-reezing cold Tassie nights, these I got from Snooza Pet Products (their stuff is always such good quality, really durable and its Aussie made)..
And on top of her new bedding, she got a deliciously yummy vanilla birthday cake, that i made and decorated myself! It was suitable for both dog and human comsuption ;-)). Brynn originally wanted chocolate cake but like i told her "Chocolate ain't good for Dogs.."

Brynn's Birthday

Brynn's Birthday

Brynn's Birthday

You're probably asking "Why so many candles? She's only 1?!?"..
Well I went overboard, one lone candle just didn't seem enough, plus Brynn likes the shiny, glowing lights and wanted more!
Brynn turns One!

Everyone, both the 4 legged and 2 legged varieties got a piece of Brynn's cake, and everyone loved it.. it was deleicious, Zip and Skeeter's pieces were gone in like less than a second, I don't think they even tasted it!!

Prior to eating cake, Brynn got her lesson on the Sheep, she got to spend longer than usual on them, just because she was Birthday girl!
But alas, silly Brynn happened to run into a star-post on her way around the sheep and grazed the skin just below her eye..
Sore

OUCH!!

Once she had cooled down from her lesson, I got Kong out so all the girls could play catch.

ZOMG! here comes KONG!
091

Zip likes to steal the Kong and squish the hell out of it to make it squeak..

Here are a few heap of Birthday Girl action shots..

During all this Kong action, Brynn was injured yet again.. Of all days to get hurt, she does it twice!
Notice her nose in a lot of these shots has a cut across it.. I think she may have done it on a fence when she was preying on Kong. It didn't bother her though.. there were much more important things on her mind!

My new fave action shot (so annoyed that it's slighty blurred though).

So there you have it..

Kong

This is Kong.
Kong

Brynn loves her Kong.

Brynn loves to snatch her kong mid-air.

Although she isn't the most co-ordinated Border Collie out there.

And she misses it more often than she catches.

But practise makes perfect!

Right Brynn??

Wha??!?

Floss Update

Thought it was about time I did an update on how Miss 'Flossopher' is coming along..

She has made some major improvements, both on the sheep and off. She has almost stopped her continuous barking at males, only when Luke makes really sudden loud noises or movements does it set her off. We have been socialising her quite a bit, taking her for rides in the car, walks down into town, and taking trips up to visit my grandparents place to work our other sheepses up there. She is one very happy puppy!

She loves Darcy, which isn't unusual, all the dogs love Darcy. Floss thinks the sun shines out Darcy's rear-end.

How could they notlove me!! Just look at my beautiful liquid amber eyes..
I'm too awesome too resist!
Im Just Not Gonna

Ohhhh. How Embarassing.. You weren't supposed to tell!
How Embarassing..

Anyways.. On the sheep, she has progressed so much! Last update I mentioned that her outrun wasn't the best on her 'Come-Bye' (clockwise) side, that she was cutting in and she was also hesitating and stalling before getting to the top. We have worked and worked on this and she now has a lovely, lovely outrun on both sides, a nice semi-circle. I tried Derek Scrimgeour's method of 'Dangerous Ground' to stop the cutting in. With her hesitation I pushed/chased her around whenever she began slowing down. This seems to have worked, she still hesitates at times but now I just have to give her a few loud "Shooshing" noises and she'll keep on.
She responds so well to her commands, I don't have to use my body language anymore to help her know which way to go, she knows them all verbally now. I'd love to start teaching her the whistles but I can't decide on what whistle sound to use for each command, so i might have to do a bit of research and see what other's find are the best suited for different commands.

---------
We got some new sheep the other night, 10 Merino x Poll Dorset and gawd they are sooo ugly!!! I feel sorry for the horrible little Mingers!
They are too flighty to put Brynn on them yet, so Floss is Chief sheep whisperer, she is helping calm them down and get them used to the idea of following me and NOT taking off to the furthest corner of the paddock or jumping the nearest fence when they see a dog coming at them. They seem to learning very quickly though, which is good. The sooner they settle the sooner Brynn can have her sheep lessons.. at the moment we have to resort to playing Kong or kicking Franklin (the soccer ball) around!

Sweet Innocent Flossbottom.

A Video of The Tri-Terror

I did this video the other night in Windows Movie Maker, just playing around with different effects and video settings-- I discovered how to take audio noise off videos and replace with actual music! OMG!! I was so proud of myself hahaha!! I've been trying to work out how for months! It is so much nicer listening to music rather than the sound of wind howling into the camera microphone ^-^

You can see in the video Brynn is over-flanking quite a-lot. I'm not exactly sure what to do about it. I was told by a local trainer /trialer that it is "good cover" and that it a good thing, but i think she is weaving when it is not nesessary. I've been told a Facebook friend (who trains and trials) that she needs to tighten up-- how to teach her that I am yet to find out! :-)
I also thought that maybe it could be the sheep. If you actually watch the sheep you will notice how slow they move. They are so used to the dogs, they hardly react to them anymore (I did add 2 merino cross whethers to them 5 training ewes to try and 'spice them up' a bit, didn't help much though), I thought that maybe Brynn is doing the weaving from impatience, as i know she is quite impatient away from the sheep anyway.
I need/want more sheepies. I'd love to try her on some lighter, more flighty sheep just to see her reaction. But all our other sheep are actually on holiday at my grandparents property, getting fat. I would take Brynn for a trip up there but the paddocks aren't really suitable for training work, to many tussocks, blackberries, waterways and swampiness.
We are looking around for more sheep, I was hoping to get some purebred Cheviots, they are my fave sheep breed, but there's non for sale locally at the moment. So it looks like more Merino Cross's will have to do for now. Better that nothing I suppose ;-)

Random Brynn shot..
Bushwalking in comfort-- Keeping warm in her oilskin coat..
She is so spoilt ^-^
